Advantage Partners Raises ¥130 Billion for Latest Japanese Buyout Fund

2023.04.28

Advantage Partners is pleased to announce the successful final-close of the Fund VII Series Funds (the “Funds”) with total commitments of ¥130 billion on April 24, 2023.

Despite an overall challenging macroeconomic environment, the Funds were able to attract a diverse set of investors including insurance companies, asset management companies, banks, global funds of funds, pension funds, and other institutional investors. Investors who had committed to prior funds served by Advantage Partners represented most of the commitments for the Funds, and included both Japanese and non-Japanese international investors. The Funds received commitments in excess of both the ¥120 billion target and ¥130 billion hard cap.

Continuing the successful investment strategy of previous Japan buyout funds served by Advantage Partners, the Fundsʼ investment activities will focus on the Japanese middle-market, which Advantage Partners believes to be the most attractive. The Funds will leverage Advantage Partners’ extensive experience and expertise to navigate pressing issues such as climate change, labor shortages, and inflation to invest in businesses in a wide range of industries and from a variety of sources, including founder/owner succession, corporate carve-outs, and public-to-privates.

Advantage Partners plans to support the Funds in transforming their business models to accelerate growth and to strengthen their relationships with a wide range of stakeholders. By actively supporting portfolio companies’ management, Advantage Partners aims to continue cultivating firms that generate significant societal value as well as value for investors.
